Why You Can Trust Maria

Before we talk strategy and results, I want to share where this all began. This page is a glimpse into my journey—the lessons, the doubts, and the moments that shaped how I work with clients today.

My Story

It all started during one of the most uncertain times in our lives—the pandemic. While the world slowed down, something inside me started to awaken. I had decided to pursue a career that was very close to my heart, a path that required not just passion and dedication, but financial support too. I also carried a deep desire to help my single mom and support her in any way I could.

During this time, many of my friends were working as Online English teachers. They encouraged me to try it too, but I held back—I didn’t think I was good enough in English, plus, I don't have a laptop to start with.

I lacked confidence, and for a while, that fear kept me stuck.

But instead of focusing on what I couldn’t do, I started thinking about what I could. I’ve always loved drawing. So I picked up my phone and began practicing digital illustration.

Slowly but surely, I got a few customers. Some of my friends had clients looking for digital artists, and they started outsourcing projects to me. Before I knew it, I was creating digital art for international clients. I also started to work part-time in a "Batchoy" restaurant where my mom used to work.

That season of creativity lasted for a year or two. Then something unexpected happened. One of my closest friends gave me a secondhand laptop. (Did you know I was actually saving up for one? I had only managed to save a little over 100 pesos when God already gave me what I needed—such a blessing!)

With the laptop, new doors opened. Some of my friends who were Virtual Assistants started outsourcing data entry tasks to me. A few of my friends even hired me directly—one had a food business, the other a furniture brand. I helped manage their social media accounts, designed graphics, wrote captions, and even handled customer chats. For a year or two, I was juggling it all.

Remember those English tutor friends? They had now shifted to being VAs and kept encouraging me to give it a shot. I still had doubts, unsure if I could really make it. So, I kept doing the small tasks and continued my digital illustration work. I even tutored some of my friends' kids with their elementary lessons on the side!

I thought, maybe this is it. I was able to support that important career I had set my heart on. I got to help my mom as well. Sometimes, I even surprised my grandmother with groceries.

Life was simple, but I felt purposeful.

Then, the same friend who gave me the laptop messaged me again—this time with a link to a FREE 3-month General Virtual Assistance Course.

I hesitated for a bit, but eventually thought,

why not? It’s free. Maybe it was time to try something new.

So I enrolled. I poured my heart into learning— admin tasks, VA tasks (including social media management), portfolio creation, and everything in between. We were also tasked to send 10 proposals everyday. By the time I graduated, I was honored as a medalist—something you achieve if you land a client before the course ends.

My first client came from a discovery chat. I got hired as a Social Media Manager! I charged $200—because, honestly, I was still unsure of my skills. But that client later referred me to her friend, and soon enough, I had two U.S. clients, making $350 monthly.

Then something amazing happened. One of them asked me to handle their email marketing too—bringing my income to $450 within my first few months after graduating.

But then, my secondhand laptop started breaking down. I struggled with productivity and started worrying. Without even asking, those two clients surprised me with a generous bonus—enough to buy a brand-new laptop.

I still tear up thinking about that kindness. It was more than just help—it was Jehovah's way of showing me I was on the right path.

Since then, my skills in social media management have continued to grow. I’ve been blessed to work with clients from different industries—beauty, pets, travel, interior design—and each one has taught me something new.

And that’s how it all started—with a passion, prayer, a little courage, a phone, a secondhand laptop, and a lot of grace. 💻✨

What I learned
along the way

Looking back on my journey, I’ve realized so many things.

✨ Skills can be learned, values must be lived.

Platforms change. Algorithms shift. But honesty, commitment, and care for the people you work with will always matter.

✨ Social media is not just posting—it’s problem-solvingBehind every post is a business goal, a customer need, and a story waiting to be told. Content should always support the bigger picture.

✨ Systems create sustainability

Working multiple roles taught me that without systems, burnout follows. Clear processes protect both the business and the people behind it.

✨Trust is built in the small things

Meeting deadlines. Communicating clearly. Taking responsibility. These quiet actions build long-term client relationships.

✨ A good social media manager thinks like a business partner

My role isn’t just to execute tasks—it’s to support decisions, anticipate needs, and help businesses grow intentionally.

✨Growth happens faster when you stay teachable

Every client, every industry, and every challenge taught me something new. Staying curious keeps the work meaningful.

✨Gratitude keeps you grounded

From a phone to a secondhand laptop to a full-time career—this journey taught me never to take opportunities, clients, or progress for granted.
